Discover What It Means to Be a Freemason
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and most respected fraternal organisations, a society of men united by shared values, friendship, and a desire to make a positive difference in the world around them.
At St Peter’s Lodge No. 1125, based in the historic market town of Tiverton, we welcome men from all walks of life who wish to grow personally, give back to their community, and enjoy genuine fellowship in a trusted and respectful environment.
What Is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry teaches moral and ethical lessons through allegory and symbolism, using centuries-old traditions to inspire modern values. It is not a religion, though its members are encouraged to hold a belief in a higher moral power. It is not a secret society, but a society with some traditional forms and ceremonies that preserve its sense of history and meaning.
Above all, Freemasonry is about becoming a better man, a better friend, husband, father, colleague, and citizen.
At the heart of every lodge, and every Mason, are four guiding principles:
Integrity
Doing what’s right, even when no one is watching.
Friendship
Building bonds that last a lifetime, across backgrounds, ages, and beliefs.
Respect
Valuing others, embracing difference, and treating everyone with fairness.
Service
Supporting those in need through charitable acts, volunteer work, and community care.
